Robert Michael Fried

Fortune 500 marketing strategist and author Robert Michael Fried strikes a refreshing balance between making money and making meaning.  Fried has spent most of his career directing or repositioning the marketing and sales strategies for blue chip companies such as Motorola, bebe eyewear, Marantz Stereo, Hansen’s Natural, Nautilus Fitness, and Starcraft recreational vehicles. He is currently serving on the marketing advisory board for, an emerging Silicon Valley firm.

Robert Fried’s new Amazon Best Seller is entitled Igniting Your True Purpose and Passion: A businesslike guide to fulfilling your professional goals and personal dreams. The book is critically acclaimed by best-selling author and former chief evangelist of Apple, Guy Kawasaki, Cynthia Kersey, best-selling author of Unstoppable, and Marci Shimoff, best known for her co-authoring of six Chicken Soup For The Soul books and her prominent role in “The Secret” video. Fried's book was recently published in Chinese, where it sold out its first printing.

In 2005, his New York Times critically-acclaimed book, A Marketing Plan for Life, soared to #1 on the Amazon Best Seller list, in three separate categories: Success, Self-Help and Personal Transformation.  The book has been utilized as a textbook in the marketing and entrepreneurial departments of Central Michigan University, Tufts University and Providence College.

He is a co-founder of Planet Products, the first biodegradable “green” household cleaner product line sold in major supermarket chains including Vons, Ralphs, Gelson’s, Albertson’s and Safeway.

Fried is the co-founder of BrandMark, Inc., a marketing consulting firm focusing on emerging Silicon Valley companies and other high-profile international clients.  His brand-building expertise was a major factor in the creation of licensing partnerships with the following companies:

He codified the 12-Point Marketing Plan process that offers companies of all sizes step-by-step brand marketing solutions.  Later, he created a work/life seminar series called “A Marketing Plan for Life” utilizing the same marketing planning process.  These seminars have been conducted around the world, including a gathering of 100 C.E.O.’s at the Enterprise Conference in Pebble Beach, California and at the Canyon Ranch Resort’s Life Enhancement Center in Tucson, Arizona.  He has also given seminars at Wells Fargo Advisors and Medtronic Inc. Additionally at Medtronic, he helped establish a highly successful sales collaboration program, further unifying the customer service and sales departments to exceed aggressive sales goals.

Fried is the co-founder of the ThirdWind Company, dedicated to empowering people to realize their professional goals and personal dreams.

A dean’s list student at Providence College, Fried holds a Masters of Marketing/ Communication from Boston University where he graduated at the top of his class.  He has been a frequent guest lecturer to many major college and alumni groups including New York University Stern School of Business, UCLA Anderson School of Business and USC Marshall School of Business, Providence College School of Business and the Naval Post Graduate School.  He has been a contributing writer to the Columbia School of Business Alumni Newsletter.

Living above the Pacific Ocean in Carmel, California, Fried does charitable work with the Boys and Girls Clubs and the Carmel Bach Festival of classical music. He also serves on the Providence College Vision Board.

Robert A. Zeichick

Bob Zeichick is a versatile, action-oriented executive who consistently thinks outside the box, while still staying true to corporate strategic boundaries. His many years working hand-in-hand with creative and marketing teams has given him the unique ability to meld the business-driven strategies of corporate America with effective, efficient and dynamic advertising and promotions executions.

An honors graduate of California State University Northridge, Zeichick has a bachelor’s degree in Journalism/Mass Communication and also attended the Art Center School of Design.  He is an avid fan of sports from around the globe.

Jonathan Flicker

Jonathan Flicker possesses a keen analytical, direct-marketing mind uniquely coupled with a creative touch that has enabled him to produce a myriad of smashing product launch successes. He is recognized as a direct marketing pioneer with his highly targeted television infomercial, Internet and customer retention expertise.

As former president and CEO of New Vitality, Flicker continued to steward a host of smashing TV direct-to-consumer product launches including Ageless Male, Super Beta Prostate, SebaClear and Ruby Reds. As part of this effort Flicker spearheaded a customer retention effort that enabled New Vitality to become a highly trusted ‘advisor’ to its ardent base of consumers.

As Executive Vice President of Product Development at the world’s leader in direct marketing, Gunthy-Renker, Flicker was one of the infomercial masterminds behind several highly successful product launches including; ProActiv, Sheer Cover, Principal Secret Reclaim, Meaningful Beauty, Youthful Essence, Natural Advantage, Winsor Pilates, Core Secrets, Supreme Pilates, Dean Martin Variety Show, Laugh In, Carol Burnett, Body Victory and TR Ultimate Relationship Series. During Flicker’s management, these business lines generated increased sales from $100,000,000 to $500,000,000 in just over 5 years. One of Flicker’s key successes at Gunthy-Renker was advancing the company’s model from a “front-end/television revenue reliant business” to one focused on maximizing customer Lifetime Value.  These efforts significantly increased both the sales and EBITDA margins to the point where Guthy-Renker was able to redefine its rate, cost and channels through which customers could be acquired, in essence, reinventing the way direct marketing operated.

Prior to becoming a TV infomercial and Internet direct-marketing maven, Flicker had a wide variety of marketing, sales and operational positions including Vice President of Marketing Services at Time Life Inc., where he ran Time-Life Libraries’ telemarketing as well as marketing research, promotion production, database management and modeling.

Before his stint at Time Life, Flicker served as Senior Director of Business Development for Bertelsmann Music Group’s (BMG) Music Service division in New York, responsible for creation and execution of new acquisition and retention direct response marketing programs. Later, Flicker was promoted to BMG Vice President of Customer Service and Operations in Indianapolis.

Over his career Jonathan has held several management positions in strategic planning, corporate finance, marketing, sales and operations at industry leaders Book of the Month Club, Time Life Home Video, and National Geographic Society.

Currently, he has more than 20 direct-marketing projects in development and has 6 executive production agencies developing both long-form and spot infomercials.

Flicker is a graduate of the University of Kansas with degrees in Cognitive Science and Statistics.

Jonathan lives in Locust Valley, New York with his wife Shelly and their two children, Ethan and Abigail. His interests include surfing, running, cooking and spending time with family.

Marilyn J. Bellock

Marilyn Bellock offers a wealth of experience in applying and leveraging new technologies to increase the overall value of brands.  Ms. Bellock’s background  includes stints in media (CBS Broadcasting Group, Scripps Networks, Primedia), brand management (Laura Ashley, Marimekko, Gear) and new technology (,, Scripps Networks). Current and recent projects include:

  • Social and "fashion networking" site
  • New technology supplier (digital asset management for brand packaging)
  • International media corporation (television and internet
  • Boutique venture capital company

“There’s been a true convergence in the marketplace, “ Ms. Bellock offers, “where media, brands and technology are completely inter-dependent.”  She brings a practical and rigorous business planning and strategy focus to clients addressing this new marketplace which is needed for brands to reach their full potential.

Ms. Bellock’s role has often gone beyond this stage, however, where she has also estimated required investment and been instrumental in raising capital or developing strategic partnerships (often in the form of licensing relationships).  At times she has served in an interim executive management capacity to jump-start implementation plans.

Ms. Bellock’s involvement in new technologies was initiated when she co-founded a Web 1.0 start-up,, for which she and her partners raised an initial capitalization of $72 MM.  Technology continues to be an important element of newer projects, particularly online, social networking, customization and visualization technologies.

Ms Bellock has an MBA from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business and a BA in Journalism from the University of Rhode Island.  Having recently moved back to the US from London, she currently lives in New York City.

Robert M. Davey

Robert M. (Bert) Davey is a seasoned investment banker with the innate ability to think “outside the box” to create and implement solid financial strategies.  In today's tough economic climate, Davey is particularly adept in solving complicated business issues in a straight forward manner.

Davey is President of the Houston-based Vynckier Enclosures company, one of the world's leaders in the design and manufacturing of Non-metallic NEMA 4X-rated industrial electrical and electronic enclosures

Bert has been Senior Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer for Gulf States Oil and Refining Company.  Prior to that, he worked his way up from the ranks as a Certified Public Accountant for Haskins & Sells (now Deloitte & Touche). 

For more than two decades, Davey was Chief Financial Advisor and Strategist for the highly successful Mecom family oil business based in Houston, Texas.  The Mecom family is former owners of the NFL’s New Orleans Saints and was a co-founder of the Preferred Hotels chain.  Presently, he oversees the Mecom ownership of Gardiner’s Resort nestled in the hills of Carmel Valley, California.  

Bert’s clients traverse several industries including hospitals, real estate, technology, energy, distribution and professional services.

Davey’s success and primary focus has been in key financial areas including:
  • Sales of businesses, real estate and assets to publicly listed companies for consideration including cash, stock, debt assumption and earn-outs. (Includes negotiations and deal making.)

A dean’s list scholar, Bert graduated from Ohio State University with an accounting degree and holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Texas.  He lives in Houston, Texas, spending considerable time in Carmel, California spearheading various hospitality projects.

Michael Downey

Michael P. Downey is a highly regarded corporate executive with a successful track record in creating incremental value for his shareholders. His track record includes identifying viable economic business opportunities and facilitating corporate growth, as well as substantial merger and acquisition experience.

Downey offers a veritable wealth of experience serving in various executive positions including Chairman, Chief Financial Officer, executive consultant, and member of the board of directors for several high profile technology companies.

He currently is a director and chairman of the audit committee of Emulex Corporation, a developer and manufacturer of enterprise-class products that connect storage, servers and networks. He is also a director and member of the audit and compensation committee of Vertical Communications, Inc. (previously known as Artisoft Inc.) a developer of software-based phone systems, and served as its Chairman from 1998 to 2004.

Downey is a former director and member of the audit and compensation committee for the First Consulting Group, Inc. involved in integration management for the health care and pharmaceutical industry, where he served until it was acquired by Computer Sciences Corporation in 2008. FCG's valuation nearly tripled during Downey's four-year tenure on the board. He served in a similar capacity at Adeza Bio Medical Corporation with similar success with the company being acquired by Cytec Corporation in 2007, for nine times revenue.

Downey also held the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Nellcor Puritan Bennett, a leading medical device company that diagnosed, monitored and treated respiratory disorders. While at Nellcor, revenue grew from less than $100 million to nearly $1 billion.

Prior to joining Nellcor, Downey served in executive positions at Shugart Corporation, a manufacturer of computer disk drives. He also held several financial management positions at General Motors during its high-growth period.

Graduating with honors from San Jose State University, Downey also holds an MBA in finance from the University of Santa Clara. In his leisure time, he enjoys playing a round of golf and is involved with several charitable organizations.
